Roamie out and about

If you're a regular reader of this here blog, you are probably familiar with my little bunny friend Vadrouill (I like to call him Roamie the bunny, because that's what his name means in French), who likes to travel the world in peoples' pockets and photobomb their holiday pics. I found Vad one day on my way home from work (you can read the full post here) and we've been friends ever since. I case you hadn't noticed, I seem to have a soft spot for bunnies.

So before our trip to Yorkshire and London, we asked Roamie if he'd like to join us. Guess what?

He even brought his girlfriend along! Or maybe his boyfriend? Who knows! The more the bunnier!

Off we went on our adventure!

And Roamie certainly didn't waste any time befriending the locals...

There was plenty of canoodling in pubs!

And the Roamies were as taken with the countryside as we were.

This is the perfect place for an Easter nest, don't you think Roamie? Now all you need is an egg or two.

We even took them to Leeds, and look what we found in the Moore institute! Roamies' ancestors! What are they? Some kind of bunnysaurs do you think?

And even though the Roamies have already been to London, we treated them to a nice meal at Jamie Oliver's Italian place in Covent garden. They were happy bunnies until they spotted the rabbit on the menu...

Time to catch up on some Zzzzs

And a St Patrick's eve concert too! My cousin recently joined this band called Indian Summer, which happens to have been going for years, they've even toured in France and been on the Jacques Martin show with Nana Mouskouri (this probably doesn't mean anything to most of you readers, so you can just go ahead and be mightily impressed).

Time to go home already :( noooooo! But the Roamies will be back soon for a very tropical adventure! Shhhh! I'm not telling where, it's a surprise!

Making plans

Well, I'm back! For a minute there I thought I might just stay in Yorkshire. Why? Because look:

and look:

Snow-topped hills and cozy pubs. That's what I'm looking for. And it's what I'll be getting in three short months!! I resigned yesterday, we're giving notice for our flat at the end of the month, now all we need to do is find a nice little cottage in Haworth. And sell half our furniture and organise a move across an ocean, nothing we can't handle. Have you seen the level of cuteness of this place? I don't think you fully realise so I'm going to show you a bit more:

There are a couple of other villages in this area that are just a sweet, you'll be getting a tour of them soon. I can't believe we get to live in such a beautiful place for half the price we pay to live in the suburbs with this view:

What do you think? Are we making the right choice? I'm 200% sure already but I'd love to hear your opinion. I'm so so excited!

bUcKet list

I don't know how much posting I'll be doing over the next ten days in the UK, so to keep you going here is a little bit of what I've got planned for us. I'm so excited, this is just what I need to perk me up for the next few months.

A birthday celebration for one of my favourite people with lots of my family. This doesn't happen very often so it's a real treat.

Lots of time in Yorkshire to visit our future home and home town and my cousin Snoo who I can tell is going to be a fantastic tour guide. Did I mention we are thinking of moving to Yorkshire? Well now it's official!

Just look at that view. Not a single grumpy commuter or overpriced cocktail in sight!

Then it's back to the cocktail capital of the world for the weekend before heading home. Hopefully we'll fit in some St Patrick celebrations in a cozy pub like this one.

Some serious fooding experiences recommended by this lovely lady

Did I mention shopping?

With a bit of greenery thrown in for good measure.

And a fox. Because look at that face.

Cheerio, bunnies!

Weekend snapshots

I came back from Brittany with a nasty cold.
I'm beginning to think weekends away do me more harm than good.

What I really need is a very long weekend away. A couple of days with family, a few days in rural England, followed by a weekend in London...luckily, all this is happening at the end of the week! Yay! I can't wait!

In the meantime, here are few snapshots of some barely lukewarm moments spent in Brittany. In March. Never again.

I've pixel-o-matic'd my heart out, just because I felt like it. Also maybe because the light in Brittany at the beginning of May is like the light everywhere else: dullsville.

Except the photos of the beach. They never really need help.

Pining for...beauty

Are peonies even in season? I keep spotting them all over Pinterest. I have never had peonies at home (hint, hint).

Serious swoon

Homely swoon

Simple steps to fewer aches and a graceful body.

A reminder to try out this yummy looking recipe using the cookie cutters that someone very lovely sent to me recently

As soon as I get back from that weekend in Brittany. Have a good one my dear bunnies!

Toiling with doilies

First, take an age to decide what kind of vibe you want to give your very bare mini-hallway. Take into account the only element of decor: the black and white family photos of yore.

What else can be added? Oh yes: light.

Think back to your yeti shade project.

Think about how long it took and decide on something faster and cozier with a vintage feel. Think doilies. Tea-stained doilies.

Go to Ikea. Change your mind and go for the pear-shaped shade instead of the round paper shade. Such extravagance.

Oh yes, I forgot, this stage is essential: take a bunch of photos of the before, during, materials, etc., then accidentally delete them. Resort to using the official Ikea website photo that stinks.

Whip out your vintage rose-coloured masking tape and start taping doilies onto the shade. Go into the kitchen to make some tea. Come back: doilies are all on the floor. Give up on masking tape. Whip out the liquid glue and paintbrush. Go doily-crazy.

Halfway through: run out of doilies. Pass second order to Singapore and pay double postage. Notice after paying that the price of the doilies has skyrocketed. Too late. Wait two weeks. Upon arrival, doilies are a slightly different colour and texture than the first batch. Pray that nobody will notice. Spend Sunday evening arranging doilies that are reluctant to stick while listening to old and embarrassing tunes of yore (like this).

The room looks pretty dark in this picture, but really it just gives the small space a nice and warm feel.

I think I quite like it.

I will call him Andre.
